Woden Community Club has applied for a grant from Wellmark that would be used towards park improvement, for a sand volleyball pit. There are 10 grants being awarded for the amount of $7500 each.
Help Woden win! The winners are determined by public vote and you can vote once a day from August 20-September 7.
The American Legion Post of Woden will be having a scrambled egg breakfast on Memorial Day from 6:30-8:30am at the Community Center. Freewill donations will be accepted.
Memorial Day Service at Bingham Cemetery will be at 9:30am with fellowship and goodies served by the American Legion Auxiliary to follow at the Community Center. Remember to wear a poppy to honor our veterans.
Woden’s annual Vegas Night will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 6pm to midnight at the Woden Community Center, 208 Main Ave.
The event will include blackjack and dice tables, plus many small raffles. The $10 entrance fee includes a meal of pork loin sandwich and keg beer. Must be 21+ to enter.
Raffle tickets are also being sold for a $750 cash prize raffle. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Wubben’s or First State Bank.
All proceeds benefit the Woden Community Center.

The Firemen’s Breakfast will be held Saturday, April 5 from 6:30 – 10 a.m. at the Woden Fire Station.
Menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice. Cost is $5 for adults, 5-12 yrs is $2.50, and kids under five eat free.

The third annual Tour of Tables was held on on November 7, 2013 in Woden. Twelve tables were each decorated a different way. The “Enchanted Evening” event raised money for the library.

Woden will hold trick or treating on October 31 from 5-7 p.m.
The Woden Community Club will hold a costume contest at 7 p.m. at the Community Center.
In the past, T-ball and softball programs were run by the school district. With the closure of the district, it has been left to area parents and the City to keep the program going and Woden’s softball field maintained.
For summer 2013, parents put together two leagues. 17 players participated in the T-ball program and 13 players signed up for softball. The City of Woden takes care of the field.

The annual Thanksgiving celebration held at Wubben’s Bar and Grill was featured in the Globe Gazette on November 22, 2012. It’s estimated about 1/3 of Woden’s citizens attend the event.

Faber Repair and Tire opened for business in on May 14 in the former Harold’s Tire Service location. According to a June 20th article in the Globe Gazette, “The business offers a full range of services, including tire repair and sales, oil changes, transmission service, exhaust, brakes and agriculture service calls.”
On Sunday, February 27 the Globe Gazette featured Woden in their weekly Backroads spotlight. The piece includes quotes from citizens, the mayor, and former residents as well as photos and an online video.
